Explicación
Usamos la voz pasiva cuando nos interesa qué recibe la acción. Quien la realiza puede ser desconocido, evidente o menos importante.
- Activa: A chef prepares the meals.
- Pasiva: The meals are prepared by a chef.
Estructura: be + participio
El verbo be indica el tiempo y concuerda con el sujeto. El participio del verbo principal no cambia.
| Tiempo | Singular | Plural |
|---|---|---|
| Present simple | is made | are made |
| Past simple | was made | were made |
Con I usamos am en presente: I am invited to the meeting every year.
- The office is cleaned every evening. (presente habitual)
- The office was cleaned yesterday. (pasado terminado)
Los participios regulares terminan en -ed. Algunos irregulares son write → written, build → built, take → taken, make → made y grow → grown.
De activa a pasiva
- Lo que recibe la acción pasa a ser el sujeto.
- Elegimos be en el mismo tiempo que la activa.
- Añadimos el participio del verbo principal.
- Si hace falta, añadimos by + agente.
- Someone opened the gate. → The gate was opened.
- A local artist designs the posters. → The posters are designed by a local artist.
Negativas y preguntas
La negativa añade not a be. La pregunta coloca be antes del sujeto; no añadimos do ni did.
- The room wasn’t painted last year.
- Are these bags recycled?
- When was this photo taken?
By introduce al agente; with puede introducir un instrumento: The bread was cut with a knife.
Truco: conserva el tiempo de la activa y revisa el nuevo sujeto: They built the school pasa a The school was built, no were built.
